A Weekend with Leslie & Reveau

Grandma is in the wheelchair with Leslie standing up behind the kids and Reveau is sitting in the chair. Forrest won the marbles game

Forrest and Sadie are thinking about their next moves. FOrrest won the game.

Forrest with all of his "cool" books he will put on his bookshelf for decorations.

Sadie will probably read all of her "new" books. They were bought new by the original owner, right? lol

Thursday I drove to Birmingham after school to pick up George's Aunt Reveau and her daughter, Leslie from the airport. They are here to visit with George's mom, who is Reveau's yuounger sister. We are so excited to have them here for a couple of days. They are from Utah, and when they left Slat Lake City Thursday morning, it was snowing. The airplane had to be "de-iced" before if could take off. That sure isn't the case here in the Deep South, is it! George and the kids met me at his parents house around 8pm and we visited till about 10pm and I took the kids home while Goerge visited till about 12 midnight. Friday we went back over to George's parent's house for a visit and I made a big pot of Santa Fe soup for dinner, which they have never had. Yummy! We had a blast. Leslie and Reveau are so awesome. They have visited twice before, in 1998? and in 2005. They are who my sister and I stayed with when we flew to Salt Lake City last May. The kids were able to play a game of marbles while Leslie and I went through the last two years of my scrapbooks. Right before we left, Barbara (George's mom) told the kids and I if we wanted any of her church books on the shelf, we could have them. We had to first "check" them out through her to make sure she didn't want them. Forrest and Sadie loved going through all Grandma's books. Forrest thinks old books are "cool". They know I love Joseph Smith and they were excited to find books about Joseph and bring thme to Grandma to "check-out" ! Sadie began reading one of her books before we left. They will remember this night for a long time. I have no idea where we are going to put them!

We picked up Lesie and Reveau and took them to church with us. George kept waking Reveau up and come to find out, Leslie says that they never wake her up at church back home. Leave it to George to break the rules! lol After church, we had the priviledge of bringing them back to our house for lunch. We had chicken salad sandwiches, chip & salsa, veggies & dip and apple pie with Blue Bell ice cream. Yummy! Leslie has never heard of Sundrop, so I gave her the pleasure of tasting one. She loved it! They do not have Blue Bell ice cream in Utah, only Blue Bunny. So again, they had a real treat with the awesome creamy Bluebell homemade vanilla ice cream. George took them back to his parents after lunch, as George's older two brothers were going to take them to Monte Sano Mountain for a hike. We are loving all the time we are able to spend with Leslie and Reveau. This afternoon we are going back over for a visit and FHE. George will bring them to the airport tomorrow. That will be a sad day!

Good Ole Country Breakfast!

Posted by Picasa

We have a great country store where we buy our gas and our morning breakfast several times a week, which is a sausage bisquit and a Sundrop. The cost is $2.11 They are awesome and worth every cent! I love to take a bite of the bisquit and chase it down with Sundrop. Yummy! We have been buying them for almost three years. I finally asked them the question, "Who is your supplier?" And the answer was SAM'S!
I went to Sam's and bought the same bisquits for $3.88 and the same pre-cooked sausage for $4.50, each having 24 in the pack, and of course a case of Sundrop. We are going to save so much money buying from Sam's. Is this going to break the habbit of buying breakfast at the store? probably not. Our family has a history of going to the convienent store when we are hungry, right Mary Kate? lol

A Visit with Granny

Posted by Picasa

We spent the night with Granny & Grampie Friday night. After we got there, Sadie's allowance was burning a hole in her pocket, so Granny took her to Walmart. She didn't mind Granny spoiling her! The reason for our trip was for me to teach Granny how to post a picture on her blog. I'm very proud of her for blogging everyday and now it's time for her to have an "ncrease in knowledge". After an hour and a half trying to put Picasa on her Apple computer, I gave up and taught her how to post pictures the long way by (I think Picasa is so much easier than from your blog). Granny was able to post a couple of pictures from my instructions, so my mission was accomplished! While we were working on the computer, Forrest and Sadie were downstairs playing. When it was time to go, Sadie was hanging upside down on Grampie's exercise equipment and Forrest was hiding in the bed, hoping I wouldn't find him.

We went to the morning session of Conference on Sunday. We arrived around 9:30 in hopes to get cusioned seating, but had no luck. I think some people must campout in the parking lot to get the good seats or they have no children to get ready! We were able to get good seating in the gym, but it was still noisy. It was nice to see old friends. Besides the talks, that's a highlight of Conference for me!

Smile Forrest, Smile!

Instead of "Run Forrest, Run!" I think it is appropriate to say, "Smile Forrest, Smile!" Mary kate wanted to see pictures of Forrest without his braces, so I talked Forrest into a couple of shots in exchange for a few more minutes on the computer. Bribery still works! He would die if he found out the picture of him playing with his hair is posted on this blog! He was showing off and acting like a model and I happened to take the shot! Isn't he handsome? I can't get over how much he has grown in the past year. Before too long, I'll need a step ladder just to give him a kiss!

PS- He got into a little bit of trouble because he was riding his scooter in the carport and spinning out in power steering fliud when Dad said not to. Good thing these pictures were taken before Dad found out!

Help!

I was correcting a misspelled word in my header and when I pushed the save button, all of my page elements from the side moved to the bottom-center of my blog . This happened to me about a month ago and I had to create a new blog. My feelings are so hurt over this. If you know how to fix this probelm, please let me know. Both times this has happened when I wa updating my header title. Thanks!

Kids Helping Dad

Posted by PicasaYesterday after school, George had Forrest pull out some posts with the Samauri. Not wanting to be left out, Sadie, Carhartt and Benny jumped in with Forrest. It was a sight to see so I took pictures. I can't let this scrapbook moment pass me by! After the posts were removed, George let Forrest take a few laps around the yard. He's really good at driving a stick. George taught him years ago.

Forrest had something to smile about. He got his braces off yesterday morning. YEAH! No more payments, no more headgear and no more rubberbands. We're not out of the woods yet, as he will get his retainer next week. He smiled all day yesterday. After he drove the Samauri, Forrest reminded me that I had told him months ago that when he got his braces off he could try the teeth whitening strips. Both he and Sadie tried them and you know what? They worked! They both had beautiful pearly white teeth!

Saturday's Chores

Well, we survived the week and here it is another weekend. Time sure does fly. George came homelast night. He's been out of town in Birmingham since Tuesday getting certification for his work. We were so happy to have him home. We are doing chores around the house. So far I have cleaned the kitchen and the livingroom along with washing a couple of laods of the never-ending laundry, Forrest is helping George outside and Sadie is mowing the grass. It is only 12 noon and look what we have accomplished! As I was outside taking pictures of Sadie, I noticed my tulips. The yellow tulip decided it needed to blossom and wanted it's picture taken too. Now I have three beautiful red tulips and one yellow tulip. I have seen so many different colored tulips on my way to work. I'm not a big flower person (probably because I never get any! lol)but I am officially making tulips my favorite flower.

Annoyed and Pisted Off

My blog this morning is not a nice one. I am so sick and tired of others not following the rules. There are rules in society, in the world, at home, at school, at work, at church, at the mall, while driving, at resturaunts, etc...that everyone has the responsibility to follow, no matter who you are. It is a given. These rules are posted and everyone knows the rules and their responsibilities, right? Ignorance is no excuse. In first class, middle class and lower income classes their are hidden rules that everyone who is in their class knows about. If you don't, you'll find out quickly. So, why doesn't people follow the rules? It pisses me off that some people think their poo doesn't think. I'd give anything to smear it in their faces and say "smell!" Where are the consequences? I know there will be eternal consequences to pay, but what about now? Everyone seems to be too scared to speak up for themselves, afraid of hurting others feelings while their feelings are being tramped on. Why should a person be afraid to speak up if it's right? The ones who are protected are the ones who are breaking the rules and do you think they are looking out for your feelings? Heck No!! The ones who get hurt are the ones who follow the rules and always have and always will. If only the ones braking these rules knew that their integrity sux and we have no respect for them, would they continue to break them? Are they waiting on us to inform them to shape up or ship out? Do the rule followers have the balls to say that to them? Probably not, that is why rule breakers continue to break the rules. They are bullies. If everyone would take responsibility for themselves(and family)I wouldn't be writing this. There is opposition in everything.

My First Tulips

Posted by Picasa

I have never taken a picture of any flower but there is a fist time for everything. I'm not big on flowers in the yard (because of high maintanace) but there is a group of tulips by our light post in the front yard. I noticed that two tulips had blossomed and knew they wouldn't be around for long so I decided that it was time to take pictures of my tulips. I set my camera on the flower setting and starting taking pictures. I remember my dad taking pictures of flowers and trees through the years and often wondered why. Well, after I looked at how pretty the pictures are I figured out why!

Mystery Machine

Posted by Picasa

I saw this van in a parking lot and took a couple of pictures to show Forrest and Sadie. They didn't seem to care so I thought I would share them with you! I think it's cool looking. Everybody loves Scooby Doo and the Gang right? It's not everyday you see a Mystery Machine in the parking lot. I bet if Scooby and Shaggy were driving the van they would have thought it was cool!

Another Weekend Update

It seems like I just posted last weekend's update and now it's time for antoher one! OUr weekend went great. The only part that I regret is missing the first session of conference! Why would I think that the Prophet would have been sustained on Sunday??? If the Bridegroom came on Saturday, I wouldn't have been ready! Well, that is how I feel anyway. My friend Amy and her kids came over Saturday and we headed into town to Hobby Lobby, Walmart and to Shoe carnival. Poor Sadie, I hope I didn't embarrass her as I tried to find a B-R-A that would fit her. All of the tween ones were stuffed! And the ladies were too big! What do I do????? Anyway, after Walmart we went to Shoe Carnival. Sadie needed new shoes. She wanted a pair of NB like mine. She's in size 9 1/2 in NB and I suprised her and let her get a second pair for 50% off. Those shoes were size 9. My girl is growing! George and Forrest went to their Priesthood meeting. It is such a joy to watch my men go to their meetings together! Sunday we got dressed and went to church to watch the first seesion of conference. George really pushed this as he wanted more of a reverence atmosphere rather than us laying aorund in our PJ's on the couch watching conference. I supported him 100%. After the first session, we went to the Stamps house for a great lunch of homemade chicken tenders, green beans, mash potaotoes and brownies. Our bellies were stuffed! The second session of conference was a struggle to keep our eyes open as our bellies digested such a wonderful meal! We really enjoyed a great weekend and feel refreshed after a wonderful conference.

To my scrappin' gals:
I bought the Adobe Photoelements 6.0 photo-editing software this weekend. What is your thoughts on this program? I have heard it's one of the best in its class.

Also, I'm in the market for a 12x24 Cricut that comes with two cartridges. If you see one, please let me know where so I can get it!

Nothing like a Sundrop

Posted by Picasa

Have you ever had a Sundrop? I absolutely love it! I remember tasting my first Sundrop in in elementary school. Back then a bottle was only 25 cents. The concession stand ladies would line up bottles on the countertop and then wait for the students to come and buy them. It wasn't often that I had a quarter so a friend showed me how to stand beside the concession stand and sneak a Sundrop from the counter without being noticed. (Before you start lecturing mom, know that I have repentented of this sin!) That is when I began my relationship with Sundrop. I remember driving around wtih a cooler and a six-pack of Sundrop in my car during college. Back then a can was only 29 cents. When George and I dated we used to stop and buy Sundrop all the time. I stopped drinking caffiene for several years ago but I'm still weak when it comes to a Sundrop, especially if it's in a bottle. Notice the dent in the middle of the can. I personalize my can everytime with this dent. It helps me have a better grip of the can when I'm driving. If you haven't had a Sundrop ever or in awhile and you live in the South, I suggest you go ASAP to the nearest store and buy one. Fall in love with the citrus cola Sundrop!

Weekend Update

Saturday I meet mom at Hobby Lobby to shop for scrapbooking and card making supplies. Mom has been making tons of cards for months now. I introduced her to all the goodies at Hobby Lobby a short while ago and now everytime she comes to Huntsville, she makes a stop at the "candy shop". By the time I got there, she already had lots of goodies in her basket. I really didn't buy much, just a Boy Scout album for 50% off for Forrest. Afterwards, we made a Sam's run. We started off with one of those long-don't want to turn-no basket-no sides- carts but wound up getting a cart too. We went up and down just about every aisle in Sam's. I love to buy in bulk. Poor mom. After an hour she was pooped! Not me, shopping for food is my passion! I realized that we pick up the food we buy at any grocery store six times! 1-pick it off the shelf and put into our basket,2-pick it up out of the basket for checkout, 3-put it back into our buggy and bring it into the car, 4-put it into the car, 5-bring it into the house from the car, 6-put it in the pantry. Have you ever noticed how tired you are after a trip to the grocery store? Saturday, I had to do all of these steps twice (once at Sam's and again at Walmart) and bring them inside the house because no one was home when I arrived at 5:10pm. On top of unloading a car full of groceries, I discovered I had left a couple of bags at Walmart! I called a friend and we rode back into town.

Sadie wanted to have "the girls" over Saturday night (Aryn and Natalie Ricks) and I told her if she did her chores and cleaned her room she coul have them over. I didn't meet up with Sadie till around 8pm at a dinner appointment and she reminded me that she did her part and now it was my turn to see if they could spend the night. At 8:30 I'm asking Rachel if she could get her daughters ready to spend the night with us and attend church too. Luckily, the girls were able to come over on such short notice. As soon as they got to the house, Sadie said, "Do you want to see my clean room?" and the girls said yes. When they came into Sadie's room theywere wowing and said "We have never seen your room this clean!" Sadie was very proud of herself. THey wasnted to watch a Disney movie so I told them at 12am to turn the movie off and go to bed. At 2am I am awaken by giggling and laughing. The girls are still up! I can just see the girls not being able o come back over because I allow them to stay up way past bedtime! When we were getting ready for church the next morning, I went into the kids bathrooma nd you should have seen the countertop. There was hair from a Barbie doll in the sink, rollers everywhere and finger nail polish and remover along with two manicure and pedicure pieces strolled all over the contertop! I'm so glad they have such fun together. Just not in the wee hours of the morning! Church went well. We came home and ate and the girls played outside. At two I took the girls home and we all took naps. Sadie took a six hour nap. Rachel later told me that her Aryn and Natalie both took naps as soon as they walked in the front door.

Besides grocery shopping and have the girls over and church, the weekend was normal. We are well rested and ready for this week of work and school! Only 37 days left!)
